Our Commitment & Governance
Orient Cables is committed to responsible growth in line with Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013 and the Companies (CSR) Rules 2014. A Board‑level CSR Committee steers our strategy, monitors progress, and ensures transparent disclosure under our Board‑approved CSR Policy.
Focus Areas
Our projects are carefully chosen within four broad themes defined in the CSR Policy:
- Education & Livelihood Enhancement – scholarships, skill‑labs and digital‑literacy programmes that improve employability.
- Healthcare Support – upgrading facilities that serve persons with disabilities and their primary caregivers.
- Child Welfare & Women Upliftment – initiatives that secure children’s well‑being and empower women through education and entrepreneurship.
- Art & Cultural Heritage – grants to emerging Indian artists and efforts that preserve India’s cultural legacy.
Environmental Stewardship
Many sustainability measures sit at the intersection of our business and CSR philosophy:
- 1 MW rooftop solar across Unit I & II offsets ~35 % of plant electricity.
- Rain‑water harvesting systems recharge ~26 million litres annually.
- Copper‑scrap recycling recovers ~400 tonnes of metal each year while diverting PVC from landfills.
- All LAN‑cable raw materials are RoHS & REACH compliant.
Employee Engagement
CSR awareness is woven into our mandatory in‑house training. New hires and experienced staff attend sessions on CSR, waste‑management, Kaizen, statutory compliance and first‑aid, fostering a culture of purpose‑led performance.
Project Selection & Monitoring
Proposals are screened against focus‑area fit, community need, and measurable outcome indicators. Short‑listed projects undergo due‑diligence visits before committee approval. Progress is tracked quarterly; impact reports feed into the Board’s annual CSR disclosure.
